Downtown Water Upgrades – Construction within Intersections and Roadway at 7th Avenue

As part of the ongoing water upgrades along 7th Avenue, contractors will need to perform works within the intersections at 5th and 6th Streets as well as portions of the travelled roadway at 7th Avenue in order to complete this project.

Residents should be made aware that service connection tie-ins which cross over both lanes of 7th Avenue will be done in two parts, allowing single lane alternating traffic to continue down 7th Avenue.  The service tie-ins at 5th Street will likely be accomplished the same way to allow for single lane traffic to continue in the vicinity of the works.

Residents should also be made aware that work within intersections at 7th Avenue will likely require detouring due to the extent of work required at these locations.  Signage will be placed well before any scheduled detouring of traffic and information about the timeframe for these traffic disruptions will be determined closer to the date.

Pedestrian traffic should not be inhibited from walking on the sidewalks during this construction.  The contractors will be placing boards over any dug up sections to ensure that pedestrian traffic may access local businesses.

Impacted property owners and occupants are encouraged to check the Village website at Keremeos.ca for updates with respect to this work.
