United for BC Wildfire Recovery: Together, We Will Rebuild.

As fires continue to devastate British Columbia, United Way has been working collaboratively with Emergency Operation Centres and the Canadian Red Cross to assess the needs of the evacuees affected by the devastation. Now, we are looking toward the long road to recovery that lays ahead.

Following the immediate emergency response, as the fires die down and families prepare to return to their communities, there will be long term recovery needs. We know that families, individuals and communities will all have unique, varying degrees of needs that must be met. For some affected communities, the needs may be as great as requiring funding permanent housing, food assistance and trauma and mental health supports. In order to help the social infrastructure in affected regions, United Ways across BC have partnered to create the United for BC Wildfire Recovery Campaign.
