Be Prepared for Potential Flooding

The weather is warming up, which raises the potential of flooding. Snow packs are very high right now. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is working to prepare for the warmer weather…and you should too.


Karla Kozakevich, Chair of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen states, “The forecast for warmer weather brings the real possibility of creeks and lakes flooding from melting snow. We have been busy preparing for what could happen while improving our resilience. We are encouraging home and property owners to also take action to be prepared.”

The Village of Keremeos is very pleased to announce that we were awarded over $4 million dollars in grant funds this morning.

The funding is from the federal Gas Tax Fund, and was announced today by the Government of Canada, along with the Government of British Columbia and Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM). 108 projects have been approved in BC and four have been conditionally approved, for a total of almost $193 million. Two of the approved projects were for Keremeos.

Business Facade Improvement Program Now Accepting Applications

The intake period for the 2018 Business Façade Improvement Program is now open.  Qualifying property or business owners can apply for grant funding up to $2000 to improve the façade of their commercial/retail buildings.

Summer Hours at Landfills Starting March 1st / 2018 Compost Bins Now For Sale

Summer Landfill Hours

The Keremeos Transfer Station, Campbell Mountain Landfill and Oliver Landfill start extended hours as of March 1st.


The Keremeos Transfer Station, at the Keremeos Landfill, will be open on Wednesdays from March until the end of November.  During these months the Transfer Station will be open Wednesday Noon to 4 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.

Update Regarding Civic Works Impacting 7th Avenue Traffic - February 26, 2018

Contractors are now preparing to begin removal of the asphalt along 7th Avenue and are scheduled to begin this work starting Tuesday, February 27th at 9 AM (weather permitting).  Please check for updates regarding this work.

Neighbourhood Small Grants Now Available for Community Strengthening Projects in the Similkameen

Applications are now open for Neighbourhood Small Grants, for projects that help build a sense of community.


Neighbourhood Small Grants is based on a simple but powerful idea – that everyone is a valuable member of the community and that we all have something to share. The grants provide up to $500 for local residents to strengthen their community by bringing people together, sharing skills and knowledge, celebrating diversity, and increasing people’s sense of belonging.
