The Village of Keremeos requires that all businesses operating within our municipal boundaries hold a valid business licence with our Village. The Village of Keremeos Business Regulation Bylaw No. 757 establishes a framework for reviewing and approving business licence applications and sets applicable fees and renewal deadlines as listed below:

The Inter-Community Business Licence program was established by Village of Keremeos Inter-community Business License Bylaw No. 752 and allows businesses which operate in more than one municipality to reduce their overall licencing cost by purchasing an Inter-Community Business Licence along with their regular Business Licence. This program enables businesses to operate in all of the participating communities without the need to purchase additional Business Licences. These communities currently include:

The Business Licence application process involves ensuring all building, zoning and health considerations are dealt with prior to approval.

Building Regulation |
New buildings must have a building inspection conducted prior to starting business. If no inspection has been previously conducted, contact the Village Office at (250) 499-2711 to schedule an appointment free of charge.
All Buildings which haven’t been used for business at least 60 days prior to Business Licence renewal must have a building inspection conducted prior to starting business. Contact the Village Office at (250) 499-2711 to schedule an appointment free of charge. |

Zoning Regulation |
Businesses must ensure their property is zoned for their type of business by reviewing Zoning Bylaw and the Zoning Map.
For those intending to operate a “home based business”, please ensure it adheres to the home occupation regulations contained in the Zoning Bylaw. |

Health Regulation |
Businesses involving food service or hygiene/sanitation must have a health inspection conducted through Interior Health Authority prior to starting business. Please provide the Village with a copy of your health approval once received.

You can submit your completed form by emailing it to info@keremeos.ca, by faxing a copy to (250) 499-5477 or by mailing or dropping a copy off at the Village Office. Please ensure you provide your current contact information so you can be notified about any issues with your application and contacted once your application has been processed and fee payment is required.
