Upon receipt of 2019 grant funding from the Union of BC Municipalities, the RDOS, the Town of Princeton and the Village of Keremeos jointly engaged Ecora Engineering & Resource Group to develop flood risk assessment, mapping, and mitigation option reports.
The scope of the project included the Similkameen River and its tributaries extending from Eastgate and Tulameen to the US border. Three reports resulted from project:
In May, 2021, the Village of Keremeos received a grant of $688,000 to apply flood-proofing measures to the wastewater treatment plant. Another grant application has been submitted for the development of more detailed flood mitigation plans for the Village.
